How does hosting a hive work?

1. Garden visit – We will call at your property to decide, with your help, the best location for your bees. An initial visit is free of charge to assess your garden/backyard and determine a suitable site for the bees.
2. Hire delivery – We deliver and install a complete beehive with a healthy colony of bees on the agreed date and add you to our regular service list.
3. Ongoing management – Throughout the year, we visit the hive to manage the bees. Summer is when we harvest the honey.
4. Enjoy – Watch your bees, soak up the smells, and enjoy fresh honey from your backyard. During harvest season, depending on the chosen honey plan, options are available: honey can be extracted into buckets, or you can receive honey in jars

Regular Hive Inspections

Beehives are generally inspected 10-12 times a year, more in the spring and summer, less in the winter. Regularly hive inspections for bee and beehive health including checking for Varroa, American Foulbrood, and other bee diseases. Hives will be re-queened if considered necessary during the rental period.
